Titleist Performance Institute For Golf in Knoxville

The Titleist Performance Institute “TPI” is the leading organization and one of the best programs dedicated to the study of how the human body functions in relation to the golf swing.  TPI has studied thousands of golfers ranging from top Tour professionals to weekend enthusiasts to utilize this data to determine how a properly functioning body allows a player to swing the golf club in the most efficient way.  The program diagnoses how functional limitations can adversely affect the golf swing and potentially lead to injury.

TPI does not believe in one way to swing the golf club, rather an infinite number of swing styles, but TPI does believe there is one most efficient way for every player to swing based on what the player can do physically.

What is a TPI Evaluation?

It is a 16-test evaluation to diagnose stability and mobility limitations that negatively impact your golf swing and potentially lead to injury.  Your TPI professional, Ryan Hanigan, PT, will utilize the data from these tests to develop a comprehensive treatment plan to address these limitations including manual physical therapy, strength training, and flexibility exercises. As these limitations improve it will help you to swing the golf club more efficiently and decrease the risk of injury.

Who Will Benefit from a TPI Evaluation and Treatment Program?

The simple answer is any golfer of any level who wants improved flexibility, strength, and power to help increase the efficiency of the golf swing.  You will decrease the risk of injury by helping to eliminate swing faults created by physical dysfunction.  People with current injuries, previous injuries, or no injuries with physical limitations can all benefit from this comprehensive golf rehabilitation program to take their game to the next level.

What Medical Conditions Will Benefit from a TPI Golf Evaluation?

Any medical condition involving any body part ranging from low back pain to rotator cuff strain to ankle sprain that would benefit from physical therapy would benefit from these evaluations.  The only difference between a typical physical therapy evaluation and a TPI evaluation physical therapy is the TPI golf evaluation is golf-specific and designed to improve the efficiency of the golf swing.

Who will perform your TPI evaluation?

A certified TPI instructor and physical therapist, Ryan Hanigan, PT will perform your TPI evaluation and develop a program suited to your individual needs and goals.

Ryan has been a certified TPI instructor for over 10 years, working with golfers of all skill levels.

Will Insurance cover your TPI evaluation and treatment?

In most cases, the answer is yes.  If you have a medical condition that can benefit from physical therapy treatment then the Titleist Performance Institute “TPI” evaluation and treatment plan should be covered by your insurance in the same way that regular physical therapy would be covered by your insurance.
