Can Cigna be Used as a Chiropractic Health Insurance?

What Cigna Health Insurance Plans Do You Accept?

We currently are in network with all PPO, HMO and employer sponsored insurance plans.

However, we are currently not in network with Cigna Connect.

How Much Will It Cost?

Ultimately, each plan will determine the cost for each visit, however, we can help guide you through that! In our location of East Tennessee, all Cigna claims for chiropractic care are managed by American Specialty Health Group (ASH). 

If your Cigna plan is based on a deductible and co-insurance, the “allowed” amount for each service provided is determined by the yearly ASH “fee schedule”. No provider under this guidance may charge more than what that fee schedule states. If your Cigna plan is based on copays and out-of-pocket amounts, then this will not apply. 

The co-pay determined by the plan for the benefit category will be charged at the time of service. Cigna copays range from $10.00 to $60.00.

Are There Limitations?

Most plans have yearly limitations, this can range from 12 visits per benefit/calendar year to 180 visits per benefit/calendar year. This information will be supplied to you at your initial visit at Knoxville Spine & Sports. 

If you reach your benefit visit limit, our staff can help to navigate as a “self-pay” patient if your provider recommends further treatment. Visit information can also be attained through your insurance portal or by an insurance member representative.

Do I Need Pre-Authorization?

Typically, Cigna plans do not require pre-authorization. However, there are some plans that are “administered” by Cigna, such as Allegiance or Quantum Health, that might require notification of certain services prior to treatment. Having your insurance information prepared when making your initial appointment will help with this process!

What Should I Do to Determine My Healthcare Costs and Estimates?

If you are concerned with the specific details of your benefits, there are a few options. You can always contact your insurance company and speak to a member representative; they will walk you through various services and your policy limitations and maximums. 

If you have made your appointment at least 72 hours in advance with our office staff, you can request to have these details given to you prior to your initial visit after we have verified them.
